I took a break from posting on Monday since life got ahead of me and I didn’t have time (or energy) to write anything. I’ve had some recent personal experiences and I’m here to talk about my outlook and how I can heal instead of hurt from what has happened.
As I’ve mentioned in a favourites post, I talked about books that I hold dear to my heart. One of them was Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur. Here are some poems that I’ve wrote about as they were all about healing, perspective and balance.
i thank the universe
everything it has taken
and giving to me
everything it is giving
This first one is about balance and being thankful that the universe is both giving and taking. I think this is so important for us because we need balance in our everyday life. This also gives us an appreciation for the people and things we have in our lives, as they may not always be there. It’s healthy for us to be balanced so we know what hurting is and the feeling of sadness, as well as what happiness feels like and how we can appreciate life so much more. It’s important to be thankful for things that you’ve lost and things that you’ve gained. Both of those experiences have shaped you into the person you are, and you should love who you are becoming.
what i have
and i am happy
what i’ve lost
and i am
The second poem was similar to the first, talking about your outlook and being happy no matter what happens. Losing something or someone is hard and can be quite emotional and draining, but it’s not going to make your world come crashing down. Besides, there are still plenty of things to be happy about. I understand what loss feels like, it’s happened plenty of times in my life but I’m still alive and I’m still growing. I haven’t stopped living because of it and neither should you. Friends may not always be there for you and that’s why you need to be there for yourself. You need to love what you have and appreciate the things you’ve lost. It’s important to see the good and what you learnt from it, rather than filling your mind with negativity. Again, everything that has happened has shaped you into the person you are becoming.
and here you are living
despite it all
The last poem I’m going to talk about is the feeling of defeat from any circumstance, but still living despite it all. I think this one is also very important because as I mentioned above, we cannot stop living our life if we are put in a situation that hurts us. We have to heal, move forward and understand that the Universe is going to help.
Those 3 poems have definitely made me feel and understand some things that I couldn’t fully comprehend to begin with. I hope they are able to help you and heal you, in whatever circumstance you are facing. Just know that your world isn’t collapsing, it may feel that way right now but you will learn and grow from it eventually. We’re all learning and growing, some people grow together and some people grow apart. Step back, see the big picture and realize that there are so many things to look forward to. Be thankful for what you have and understand that it’s healthy to know loss as well. It’s all about balance and perspective!
Thanks to Rupi Kaur for yet again, helping me.
Here’s to growing, living and healing through it all,
